Rent a flat or booking hotel?

In connection with the upcoming IIHF World Championship in May 2014 in Minsk, the question with accommodation becames more complicated and confusing. Before the best option budget accommodation has been rend a private flat or book hostel room  but now priorities have changed a bit.  Hotels guide stated that the upcoming event plans to reduce the prices (at the moment, they are just going through the roof, although most hotels level of service leaves a lot to be desired). At the same time, rent an apartment (private flats) for a day is becoming more and more expensive . 

So if you plan to visit Belarus Ice Hockey World Championship in 2014 , then the best option remains hostels and private apartments, but if you're just going to come look at hockey, then perhaps it makes sense to wait with the reservation of accommodation and look at new rates for Minsk.
